membership

At Riverside, membership is important. It identifies you with the body of Christ at Riverside. Being a member is much more than just coming to a worship service each Sunday. The minimum qualifications for membership are as follows:  (a) a personal commitment of faith in Jesus Christ for salvation; (b) baptism by immersion as a testimony of salvation; (c) completion of the Church's membership class and (d) a commitment to abide by the Church's membership agreement.

Our membership agreement is an important document. This document, to be signed by every member, is not a checklist to make you feel guilty if you don't live up to it. It is an imporant reminder of what it looks like to be a member of Riverside. Check out the membership agreement below:

Riverside Church Membership Agreement

Having received Christ through a life changing “born-again” experience, having been baptized by immersion after my salvation experience, and being in agreement with Riverside’s mission, vision, and structure; I feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite in membership with the Riverside Church family. In doing so, I submit myself to God to allow Him to accomplish the following in and through me:

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS…

…they first gave themselves to the Lord and to us by the will of God – 2 Cor. 8:5b

* I will allow God to use me to build relationships with those who do not know Christ. I will befriend them regardless of whether they come to know Christ. I will make myself available to God to reach and minister to them for His Kingdom.

* I will build relationships with other believers for fellowship and personal growth. I will encourage other believers.

BELIEVING IN JESUS CHRIST…

…who desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth – 1 Tim. 2:4

* I will allow God to use me to share with others how to believe in Jesus Christ. I will share my personal testimony and any other means the Holy Spirit leads me in order to bring people into a relationship with Jesus Christ.

* I will use my relationships to lead people to Jesus Christ.

BELONGING TO A FAMILY…

…so we who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another – Rom. 12:5

* I will give regularly and sacrificially to God through my church. I will expect nothing in return from God and be grateful for all that He does.

* I will discover the spiritual gifts God has given me and use them in ministry though the body of Christ.

* I will unite with other members of Riverside in fellowship and ministry in order to glorify God and encourage others.

* I will protect the unity of the church and will submit to the leadership God has placed at Riverside Church.

BECOMING MORE LIKE CHRIST…

…but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – 2 Pet. 3:18

* I will give myself moment by moment over to the leadership of the Holy Spirit in my life. Through this I grow to be more like Jesus.

* I will join and regularly attend at least one small group (Bible study, recovery small group, etc.) in order to study God’s Word and be accountable to the group.

* I will regularly attend worship services in order to bring my worship to God. I will expect God to move in powerful ways as we worship Him together.
