Riverside Church is a community of believers striving side by side for the gospel, seeking to impact our community and our world for Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to the glory of God the Father.
The gospel is the good news announcing that God saves sinners!
God made each of us to worship and walk with him. All of us have run from God's good design choosing to live life our own way (sin) leaving us separated from God, broken and dead in our sin. The Bible tells us that all of us, without exception, have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. This is the bad news, but not the end of the story.
God saves sinners! Out of his great love for us, God did for us what we could not do for ourselves. God sent His only Son, Jesus, not to condemn the world but to save the world. Jesus was like us in every way, but without sin. He lived the life we could not live and died the death that we deserved. Jesus took our place! Our sin and shame were nailed to the cross. Three days after Jesus died for us, Jesus was raised for us conquering the death our sin deserved and securing eternal life for us. By grace we are saved!
Anyone who believes this news, turns from their sin and trusts in the work of Jesus will be raised to new life. This good news is the power of God for salvation!

GOD SAVES SINNERS BY GRACE ALONE
Anyone who comes to saving faith in Christ does so only by God’s grace. In our sin, we do not deserve to be saved, but God, in his glorious grace, saves many. (Romans 3:24, Ephesians 1:3–8; 2:8–10).
THROUGH FAITH ALONE
The Scriptures teach that salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ, not through good works. Good works are important and necessary as an expression of faith, but they cannot save us. (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 4:5; 10:9–11; Galatians 3:6–11).
IN CHRIST ALONE
The Scriptures teach that we are saved only by trusting and relying upon the person and work of Jesus Christ. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Galatians 3:20; Colossians 1:13–18; 1 Timothy 2:5–6; Hebrews 4:14–16; 8:6; 9:15).
FOR GOD'S GLORY ALONE
God is deserving of glory and praise because he has shown us grace by providing salvation through Christ. (Romans 11:36; Ephesians 3:21; 1 Peter 4:11; Revelation 1:5–6; 4:11).
ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE ALONE
All of Scripture is totally true and trustworthy making Christ known, who is the fullness of God's grace. (Deuteronomy 4:5–6; 6:6–9) (Psalm 119:1–176; 138:2) (2 Timothy 3:14–17; 4:2).
THE BIBLE
The Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. All Scripture is totally true and trustworthy and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.
GOD
There only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
GOD THE FATHER
God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
GOD THE SON
Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. In His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead, ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission.
GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Saviour. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption.
MAN
Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Only the grace of God can bring man into His fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
SALVATION
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Riverside Church! Don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have. You can fill out the contact form on this website, or call us at 504-737-2373.
We would love to have you visit and think this Sunday morning may be a good place to start.
What to expect?
Our Sunday worship starts at 10:30am and lasts about an hour. We sing a few songs (some old and some new), pray, and hear a message from the Bible.
It is our hope and prayer that each Sunday, each person is pointed to Jesus through the songs we sing, the message preached, and the way you are welcomed. The Bible tells us to welcome one another as Christ has welcomed us. We hope you experience the welcome of Christ!
What should I wear?
You will see most people dressed in casual attire (jeans, pants, polo shirts, button-up shirts, etc.). However, dress is nothing to worry about. Dressed up or down, you won't be out of place.
What about my kids?
Your kids are always welcome to stay with you during the service if that would be best for them. We don't mind kids in the service!
We do offer Children's Church! Our preschoolers (6 weeks to Kindergarten) have classes during the entirety of the service. First through Fifth graders are dismissed from the worship service right before the sermon They are taught a lesson from the Gospel Project by background checked volunteers.
On the second Sunday of each month, all kids (1st and up) stay for the entire service. Kids activity packs are available to help kids stay engaged.
Riverside Church strives side by side for the gospel, seeking to impact our community and our world for Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to the glory of God the Father.
Our "Cross in Splash" logo illustrates our mission. The shape of our logo immediately pictures a focused and unified group, with all organic points existing side by side and finding their center in the cross.
The cross is formed through a simplified splash, created by a single dot in the center, which is multiplied and repeated outside the splash. This hints at someone coming into the fellowship of Riverside Church, being enveloped by others and equipped with the gospel, to then go out and be a disciple who makes disciples.

Our Discipleship Pathway communicates and illustrates the weekly, yearly and life long habits that mark the life of a disciple of Jesus.
The solid colored shape in each dark blue circle represents an individual. The shapes around the colored circle represent what the individual is being called to in the specific discipleship rhythm.
For “Gather,” the individual is one of many circles coming together, side by side, connecting to form a larger, united circle. A disciple gathers to worship.
For “Grow,” the individual is surrounded by other circles that get larger, representing growth. A disicple grows to maturity through personal Bible study and prayer, but grows best as a part of a group of other disciples.
For “Serve,” the individual is represented by a heart instead of a circle, and is side by side with two other hearts. This highlights that our works are an overflow of our love for God and one another, and that we do not serve in isolation, but alongside others within the body of Christ
For “Go,” the individual has been launched from one place, represented by the hollow circle, to another place. The orbital shape represents general movement from one place to another, whether globally or locally.
At Riverside Kids Ministry, we believe that children are a gift from God. It is our mission to partner with families in nurturing their spiritual growth. We believe that through the guidance and support of Riverside Kids Ministry, children can develop a deep and abiding love for God and live their lives in a way that brings honor and glory to Him.
